Belgium assures India it won't share sensitive tech with Pakistan as Delhi, Brussels sign defence deals

Belgian Defence Minister Theo Francken assured India that Belgium will not share sensitive technology with Pakistan during a meeting with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday, as the two nations signed multiple defence cooperation agreements. Francken, accompanying Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever on an official visit, stated there is "no question of any cooperation with Pakistan" while he remains defence minister. Rajnath Singh had emphasized that this commitment is essential for the bilateral relationship to grow, with sources noting the assurance mirrors similar commitments from Italy. India and Belgium signed a defence framework agreement, alongside memorandums of understanding between industry bodies and private companies. The agreements cover areas including weapon systems, ammunition, radar, and counter-drone systems, with seven specific MoUs signed between Indian and Belgian firms.
