Belgian PM De Wever: Europe now sees risks India warned about

Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever stated that Europe is now recognizing risks India had warned about long ago, particularly regarding economic dependence on China. He made these remarks while speaking at a Confederation of Indian Industry event in New Delhi during a two-day visit to India. De Wever criticized Europe for allowing cheap foreign goods to flood its market, which he said undermined domestic industries and created dependency that could be used for pressure tactics. He acknowledged that Europe had ignored warnings from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and he described India as a trusted partner in the current insecure global situation. Belgium has informed India it will halt major defense supplies to Pakistan and signed ten agreements with Indian defense institutions for joint production of military equipment, including rockets. The two countries also agreed to strengthen military training and intelligence sharing, with Belgium prioritizing India for enhanced economic, political, and strategic ties.
