Belarusian ex-lieutenant colonel Anton Cheremnykh was sentenced to 14 years for state treason and inciting social hatred. He publicly opposed Russia's war in Ukraine and refused to spread pro-Russian narratives. The closed-door trial concluded in 2024, with the verdict only recently revealed by human rights group Viasna. Cheremnykh, formerly deputy commander of an artillery group, is serving his sentence in a strict regime colony. He was also added to a "terrorist list" in September 2024.
