Belal Muhammad withdraws from UFC title defense due to bone infection

Belal Muhammad has withdrawn from his welterweight title defense against Shavkhat Rakhmonov at UFC 310 due to a bone infection in his foot. This was to be Muhammad's first title defense since winning the championship earlier this year. Muhammad announced he will be unable to engage in physical activity for at least six weeks while receiving treatment. The UFC has not confirmed if Rakhmonov will fight a different opponent at the event on December 7 in Las Vegas. The UFC card still features a flyweight title fight and other notable fighters, including former bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling and fan favorite Nick Diaz, who is returning after three years.
