Bears coach Ben Johnson calls evaluating linemen in non-contact practices "fool's gold"

Bears coach Ben Johnson stated that evaluating offensive and defensive linemen during non-contact June practices is unproductive. Johnson believes true assessment of linemen requires full contact, which occurs when pads are on during training camp. He cautioned against forming opinions too early in spring. While pleased with the teaching and player response in meetings, Johnson emphasized that actual performance evaluation for linemen is impossible without physical contact.
