B.C. proposes bill to end future time changes
British Columbia's Official Opposition has introduced a bill to end future time changes in the province. The bill, called the Interpretation (Uniform Pacific Time Zone) Amendment Act, aims to eliminate the twice-yearly clock adjustments. Conservative Leader John Rustad emphasized the negative effects of time changes, such as sleep issues and health risks. He criticized the current government for waiting on U.S. states to make similar changes before acting. In 2019, a significant majority of British Columbians voted to stop switching clocks, favoring permanent daylight time. The NDP government previously indicated it would not proceed without U.S. alignment, but Rustad's bill has now moved to the second reading in the legislature.
