B.C. man granted bail in 1996 Ontario murder case

Lawrence Diehl, 73, has been granted bail in connection with the 1996 murder of Christopher Smith in Ontario. Diehl is charged with second-degree murder after DNA evidence linked him to the case, which had gone cold for years. Diehl was arrested in Vancouver in December and has now posted a $2 million bond. He must wear a GPS monitor, surrender his passport, and avoid contact with the victim's family and witnesses. Diehl has lived in B.C. for over two decades and has a background in soccer administration and meteorology. His home is valued at $3.25 million.
