BBC plans special to celebrate 50 years of David Attenborough's Life on Earth
The BBC is celebrating the 50th anniversary of David Attenborough's landmark series, "Life on Earth," with a new project titled "Life on Earth at 50." This special will reflect on the original 1979 series and its impact on wildlife programming. The BBC's Natural History Unit has confirmed that work is underway. There is hope that Attenborough, now 98, will participate, although he no longer films on location. He continues to narrate major series for the BBC. "Life on Earth" was groundbreaking, taking three years to produce and showcasing many first-time wildlife moments. It featured iconic scenes, including Attenborough with mountain gorillas, and set a new standard for natural history filmmaking.
