Bank Holiday September 4: Janmashtami Closures in These States

Indian banks are closed in several states on Friday, September 4, 2026, for the Janmashtami holiday, while branches in other regions remain open for business. The closures apply to cities including Ahmedabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, and Patna, among others. However, banks are operating normally in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Nagpur. Banks will be open across India on Saturday, September 5, as it is the first Saturday of the month; closures only occur on the second and fourth Saturdays.
