BAE Systems to upgrade RAF Typhoons with $1 billion ECRS Mk2 radar system

The Royal Air Force's Eurofighter Typhoons will receive a new radar system, the ECRS Mk2, from BAE Systems. This $1 billion upgrade aims to enhance the aircraft's combat capabilities, including improved detection range and tracking precision. The ECRS Mk2 radar will allow the Typhoon to manage multiple targets and improve its air-to-air and air-to-ground operations. This upgrade is part of a multi-year modernization effort to keep the Typhoon competitive against emerging threats. The project secures around 600 jobs in the UK and is a collaboration between BAE Systems and Leonardo. The new radar is expected to be operational by the late 2020s, further enhancing the Typhoon's role in defense and NATO missions.
