Badr University President: Zoonotic Diseases Are a Major Global Health Challenge

Badr University President Dr. Ashraf El-Shihi stated that zoonotic diseases are among the largest global health challenges, requiring research and professional integration. He emphasized the "One Health" concept as central to the university's programs, noting that climate change and ecological imbalance have led to new disease patterns. He highlighted the university's international partnerships and research funding from European agencies. El-Shihi praised the creation of the first private veterinary medicine faculty and thanked Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar for supporting the workshop on Ebola and Hanta viruses.
