A baby was born at Lisbon Airport this afternoon after the mother, returning from Cape Verde, went into labor at the terminal. Emergency teams and PSP officers assisted the birth on site. Mother and baby are well and were taken to Maternidade Alfredo da Costa. The birth occurred around 4:00 p.m. on August 29, according to RTP. The 34-year-old passenger, traveling with her six-year-old daughter, requested help after experiencing contractions. Emergency teams at the airport performed the delivery, with PSP providing support and notifying the father waiting in the atrium. Mother and baby are in good health and were transported to the Lisbon maternity hospital. There are no recent records of similar cases in the country.
