Microsoft Azure CTO Mark Russinovich has created a version of Doom that runs in Microsoft Paint by sending each rendered frame through the Windows clipboard. The game itself runs headlessly in the background using ViZDoom; Paint only displays pasted images. A keyboard hook captures inputs, and sound still plays, though the framerate was not fluid. Russinovich created the project as a humorous spare-time experiment, using Claude AI for code. It joins other unconventional attempts to run Doom, including in KiCad.
