Avon Lake seeks first championship against Purcell Marian

Avon Lake Shoregals will compete in the OHSAA girls basketball state championship for the first time since 1994. They aim to stop Cincinnati Purcell Marian from winning its fourth consecutive title. Avon Lake has shown strong defense and resilience, avenging earlier losses to reach the finals. The team, mostly made up of juniors and seniors, has a balanced scoring attack led by junior Olivia Miller and senior Bre Jones. Cincinnati Purcell Marian features standout Dee Alexander, a three-time Ms. Basketball awardee, along with twin seniors Cy’aira and Ky’aira Miller. The team is known for its offensive strength and aims to secure another championship.
