An Auckland father of three is angry the Ministry of Justice threatened his pregnant wife with arrest over a parking fine, after they dismissed a text as a scam. Matt Ward says they ignored a March text with a payment link, but a follow-up in July warned of arrest. Auckland Transport mailed the notice, but Ward says they never received it due to no mail delivery in their neighborhood. The ministry confirmed the texts were legitimate but removed links from messages in April to combat scams. Ward has disputed the fine, which was removed from the courts after his complaint.
