Atlético-MG ends betting sponsorship, leaving club without master sponsor

uol.com.br (Portuguese) —

Atlético-MG announced Saturday the end of its master sponsorship contract with betting company H2Bet, leaving the club without a primary shirt sponsor following a Brazilian government provisional measure banning betting houses. The club is the latest in a series of Brazilian teams to terminate such partnerships before the Monday deadline for removing betting advertisements, including those on football shirts. H2Bet thanked the club in a statement, saying "what we wrote stays in history." Santos was the first club to play without a betting sponsor after ending its deal with Novibet. Atlético-MG was not among the 17 clubs that petitioned the Supreme Court to suspend the ban.
