Athens and Thessaloniki taxi fares rise: New airport rates explained

Taxi fares from Athens airport to the city center are set at 50 euros, with a night rate of 65 euros between midnight and 5 a.m. Thessaloniki airport fares rise from 25 to 28 euros, and night rates from 35 to 38 euros. The waiting time charge increases from 15 to 20 euros per hour. The new pricing takes effect immediately after publication in the government gazette, following discussions between the transport ministry and industry representatives. The Attica Taxi Drivers Union welcomed the decision, citing increased costs for fuel, maintenance, insurance, and taxes. The union says it will continue pushing for a modern and sustainable operational framework for the sector.
