Asus partners with Xbox for handheld console development

Xbox is reportedly collaborating with Asus to develop its first handheld console, codenamed Project Kennan, expected to launch in late 2025. This follows earlier reports of Xbox's plans for a PC gaming handheld. The new device may resemble Asus's ROG Ally but will feature design elements associated with Xbox, such as a dedicated Xbox button layout. There are questions about whether it will run a version of the Xbox operating system or remain a Windows 11 device. While the Xbox handheld aims to run PC titles, there are hopes for a unique design that distinguishes it from existing handheld PCs. Xbox head Phil Spencer has confirmed the project is underway.
