Astronomers unveil first 3D map of exoplanet Tylos revealing unique weather patterns

Astronomers have created the first 3D map of the atmosphere of the exoplanet WASP-121b, also known as Tylos, located 900 light years from Earth. This study reveals complex weather patterns and a unique chemical composition. Tylos is classified as an ultra-hot Jupiter, orbiting its star every 30 hours. The mapping showed a jet stream at the equator and a gas flow from the hot side to the cooler side, a climate never seen before. The research also discovered titanium in the atmosphere, previously undetected. Future telescopes, like the Extremely Large Telescope, are expected to enhance studies of exoplanet atmospheres, including smaller Earth-like planets.
