Astronomers saw a giant planet forming

Astronomers may have directly observed a giant planet forming in real-time within a protoplanetary disc. The potential planet, estimated to be twice Jupiter's size, was detected embedded in a spiral arm of the HD 135344B disc, precisely where theories predict such formations occur. This observation marks the first time a planet candidate has been found directly within a disc's spiral structure, offering a rare glimpse into planetary birth.
