Crew members aboard the International Space Station (ISS) celebrate Halloween by dressing in creative costumes made from materials available on the station. This tradition includes various themed outfits, showcasing the crew's spirit despite the lack of trick-or-treaters.
In 2021, bad weather delayed the arrival of Crew-3 astronauts, but Expedition 66 members still enjoyed Halloween festivities. ESA astronaut Thomas Pesquet shared a playful post about fellow astronaut Akihiko Hoshide appearing to rise from the dead.
For Halloween 2022, astronauts dressed as video game characters using stowage containers for costumes. The current Expedition 70 crew is also preparing for Halloween 2024, with decorations already in place.
