Assessing landslide hazard along National Highway 10 in the Darjeeling Himalayas

A study assessed landslide hazard along India's National Highway 10 in the Darjeeling Himalayas, identifying critical risk areas. Researchers integrated spatial, temporal, and magnitude probabilities using machine learning and statistical models. Annual landslide exceedance probabilities reach 0.27, with significant chances of large landslides occurring within the next decade. The analysis identified Kalijhora, 7th Mile, Birik Dara, Durbin Dara, and 29th Mile as the most hazardous locations along the vital road corridor.
