Assam studies Tripura's successful Public Distribution System model

Assam officials recently visited Tripura to study its Public Distribution System (PDS). They aim to replicate Tripura's successful model, which includes a regular supply of lentils and other essential items. Tripura's government, led by Chief Minister Manik Saha, introduced a subsidized supply of lentils alongside rice, wheat, sugar, and salt. The supply of spices is currently suspended due to tender issues. The Assam delegation met with Tripura's Director of Civil Supplies to learn about PDS delivery mechanisms. Tripura is also working on filling 153 positions in the Food and Civil Supplies and Education Departments.
