Assam revises secondary school curriculum for flexibility

The Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB) will revise its secondary school curriculum to align with the National Curriculum Framework for School Education 2023. This change aims to enhance subject selection flexibility and integrate skill courses. The updated curriculum will introduce new subjects like artificial intelligence and financial literacy starting in April. A grading system will replace the current division-based assessment, displaying only subject-wise marks on report cards. Students from different streams will have the opportunity to study subjects traditionally reserved for other disciplines. ASSEB plans to finalize the new curriculum roadmap in a meeting on March 24.
