Artists showcase sustainability in new quilt exhibit at Schweinfurth Art Center

The Schweinfurth Art Center in Auburn, New York, will showcase “Quilts=Art=Quilts 2024” starting November 2. This year, 20% of the participating artists, including Canadian fiber artist Fuzzy Mall, use reclaimed fabrics to create their works. The exhibit features 70 art quilts from 53 artists, emphasizing sustainability by repurposing thrift store clothes and other discarded materials. Notable pieces include works by Deborah Boschert and Helen Geglio, who incorporate found fabrics into their art. Opening events include an artist talk by juror Dorothy Caldwell and a director's tour by Executive Director Donna Lamb. The exhibit runs through January 5, 2024, with trunk shows featuring various artists on Sundays.
