Armenia signs new partnership deal with the European Union

Armenia, a traditional Russian ally, has signed a new partnership deal with the European Union, signaling a significant shift in its foreign policy. The agreement, called the Strategic Agenda for the EU-Armenia Partnership, aims to deepen cooperation in areas including the rule of law, economy, visa liberalization, and security. The EU also pledged €15 million to support Armenia. This move follows Armenia's frustration with Russia's lack of military support during its conflict with Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh in September 2023.
