Archer fire prompts evacuations and road closures in Granada Hills

A brush fire, named the Archer fire, started Friday in Granada Hills, burning about three acres. Fire officials reported moderate growth and erratic winds in the area. Firefighters and water-dropping aircraft are actively working to control the blaze. A mandatory evacuation order was downgraded to an evacuation warning for specific areas, including Balboa Boulevard to Tampa Avenue. Residents in these zones are advised to leave, while others should avoid the area. The Archer fire is located west of the Hurst fire, which occurred earlier in the week in Sylmar. Fire officials are making progress in containing the new fire.
