Archdiocese of Curitiba celebrates Dom Pedro Fedalto's centenary with special Mass

The Archdiocese of Curitiba will celebrate Archbishop Emeritus Dom Pedro Fedalto’s centenary with a special Mass on Tuesday, marking his 100th birthday. Born August 11, 1926, to Italian immigrants, Fedalto was Curitiba’s fourth metropolitan archbishop from 1971 to 2003. He created 74 parishes and ordained 74 priests. The Mass will be held at São José Seminary, where he enrolled in 1940. Fedalto personally met four popes and helped bring Pope John Paul II to Curitiba. In 2008, he received an honorary doctorate from PUCPR for his contributions to education, culture, and religious life.
