Archaeologists have discovered ancient rock paintings in Chintamani taluk, Karnataka, believed to be around 10,000 years old. This find includes 40 new prehistoric sites, significantly increasing the known sites in the area from six to 46. The paintings, found on a granite rock, depict various animals and human figures. They were discovered after a villager led the team to the site, where red ochre was used by ancient artists. Additionally, the team identified a large underground chamber with over 300 burials, dating back to the Paleolithic age. They also found evidence of iron deposits and Stone Age pottery. The team plans to continue their survey in nearby villages.
