Archaeologist uncovers statue believed to depict Cleopatra's true face in Egypt
Archaeologist Kathleen Martinez has discovered a marble statue at Taposiris Magna, believed to depict Cleopatra's true face. This statue, found among other artifacts, has sparked debate among experts about its identity, with some suggesting it may represent another Ptolemaic princess. The excavation also uncovered a half-length statue of a king, 337 coins featuring Cleopatra, and various ritual items. These findings support the theory that Taposiris Magna is Cleopatra's final resting place, alongside Mark Antony. Last September, archaeologists identified a potential location for the tomb. They believe Cleopatra and Antony are buried together in a hidden crypt within the temple's ruins, which includes a long tunnel.
