Arab and international solidarity with Saudi Arabia after Riyadh airport attack
Arab and international condemnations followed attacks on Saudi Arabia, including a strike on Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport that killed and injured people and caused material damage. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen condemned the attack, attributing it to the Houthi group and noting three deaths, while Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary-General Jassim Mohamed Al-Budaiwi called for serious international action. Kuwait, Jordan, Lebanon, and Sudan also issued statements denouncing the assault as a violation of Saudi sovereignty and international law. Saudi aviation authorities reported two attacks on the airport, one targeting facilities and another a Saudia aircraft, killing three citizens including pilot Hammoud bin Ali Al-Kalthami. Civil defense said missile interception debris caused damage in Riyadh, while Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree claimed responsibility for the strikes.
