Apple plans Mac Pro update with new M4 Ultra chip expected in 2025

Apple plans to update the Mac Pro with a new M4 Ultra chip in the second half of 2025. This follows the last update in June 2023, which featured the M2 Ultra chip. The design of the Mac Pro has not changed since 2019. The upcoming M4 Ultra chip is expected to improve CPU performance and support hardware-accelerated ray tracing for better graphics. Additionally, the new model may allow for up to 512GB of RAM, an increase from the current 192GB limit. Apple has canceled plans for a high-end "Extreme" chip, which would have significantly boosted performance. Without this chip, the Mac Pro may not differ much from the Mac Studio, which is also set to receive the M4 Ultra chip.
