Apple plans iPad Pro update with M5 chip set for 2025 launch
Apple plans to update the iPad Pro with an M5 chip in 2025, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. The new model is expected to enter mass production in the second half of 2025, potentially launching in the fall. The M5 chip will be produced by TSMC using a 3nm process, a change from earlier reports of a 2nm chip due to cost concerns. This follows the trend of the M4 chip, which was released in the iPad Pro before appearing in Macs. The M4 iPad Pro was launched in May 2024, so the M5 model would arrive over a year later. Performance improvements are typically between 15 to 25 percent, maintaining Apple's competitive edge in the tablet market.
