Apple launches Clean Up tool to enhance holiday photos by removing distractions

Apple has introduced a new Clean Up tool in the Photos app for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, allowing users to remove unwanted distractions from photos. This feature uses generative AI to analyze images and suggest items to delete, such as people or vehicles. The Clean Up tool is available on devices running iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and MacOS Sequoia 15.1. Users can select suggested items or manually choose areas to remove. The tool also includes a Safety Filter to obscure faces with a mosaic pattern. While the Clean Up tool shows promise, results can vary. It works best on reflections and shadows but struggles with larger objects. The feature is still in beta, and users may experience inconsistent quality in the edits.
