Apple develops more affordable Vision Pro headset using Samsung display technology
Apple is reportedly developing a more affordable version of its Vision Pro headset, which launched in April at a price of $3,499. The new model aims to reduce costs while maintaining high display quality. Sources indicate that Apple is considering using Samsung's display technology, specifically a less expensive panel with a pixel density of 1,500 pixels per inch. This is significantly lower than the original Vision Pro's 3,391 pixels per inch but still higher than most smartphone displays. The new headset may utilize a White OLED with Colour Filter technology, which is cheaper than the original's OLED on Silicon. Samsung is expected to supply these panels, but a recent report suggests the launch may be delayed until after 2027.
