Apple develops AirTag 2 with upgraded chip to enhance location tracking

Apple is reportedly working on a new version of its AirTag, called AirTag 2, which will feature a more advanced Ultra Wideband (UWB) chip. This upgrade is expected to nearly triple the device's location-finding range from 10 meters to 30 meters. The AirTag 2 is currently in the manufacturing tests stage, with a focus on enhancing privacy features. The new UWB chip will match the technology found in the latest iPhone models, improving the Precision Finding capability for users. Additionally, Apple has made design changes to the AirTag 2 to prevent tampering with the speaker assembly. This aims to reduce the risk of misuse, such as stalking, by making it harder to disable the sound that helps locate the device.
