Apple agrees to $95 million settlement over Siri privacy lawsuit
Apple has agreed to pay $95 million to settle a class-action lawsuit over the recording of Siri sessions. The lawsuit claimed that unintentional activations of Siri led to recordings being sold to advertisers. Apple denies wrongdoing but chose to settle. The settlement covers anyone who owned a Siri-enabled device from September 17, 2014, to December 31, 2024. Eligible devices include iPhones, iPads, and Apple TVs. Claimants must confirm they accidentally activated Siri during this period. Payments will be capped at $20 per device, but the amount may decrease based on the number of claimants. Each person can claim for up to five devices. A federal judge must approve the settlement, with a hearing set for February 14.
