Angelina Jolie honors late mother during award speech at Santa Barbara Film Festival
Angelina Jolie honored her late mother, Marcheline Bertrand, during her acceptance speech for the Maltin Modern Master Award at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival on February 5. She reflected on her mother's sacrifices and support for her acting career. Jolie shared that Bertrand, who passed away in 2007, used to write letters to the characters Jolie portrayed. She expressed how much she misses those letters and how they connected her to her work as an artist. Previously, Jolie paid tribute to her mother at the Gotham Awards in December. She recalled her mother's love for books and theater, which influenced Jolie's own passion for the arts and her daughter's involvement in theater.
