Andhra Pradesh government approves ₹6,700 crore in payments ahead of Sankranti festival

The Andhra Pradesh government has approved payments totaling ₹6,700 crore to various sectors ahead of the Sankranti festival. This decision was made during a review meeting led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav. The funds will cover several areas, including ₹1,300 crore for employee dues, ₹788 crore for student fee reimbursements, and ₹580 crore for small contractors. Additionally, ₹400 crore will be paid to hospitals under the NTR Vaidya Seva scheme. Despite facing a financial crunch and a debt of ₹10 lakh crore, the government aims to address pending payments of ₹1.30 lakh crore. The Finance Minister emphasized the need to fulfill promises made during elections.
