Amnéville Zoo announced the death of Niko, its 28-year-old African elephant, due to an unknown cause. Niko's condition rapidly deteriorated yesterday afternoon, leading to his death despite veterinary efforts. He had lived at the zoo since 2001. Further analyses are planned to determine the exact cause of death for the elephant, whose lifespan can reach 60 years.
