Amazon has acquired the streaming rights to the popular Latin American television shows "Chaves" and "Chapolin" for Latin America, excluding Mexico. This deal will bring over 500 episodes of the classic series to Prime Video. The agreement, announced on Friday, will allow Amazon to stream the shows created by Roberto Bolaños. While the specific launch date is unknown, the streaming service currently offers the animated version of "Chaves." The Brazilian TV channel SBT, which holds open-air television rights, confirmed the change won't affect its broadcasts. "Chaves" and "Chapolin" previously left SBT's programming in 2020 due to licensing issues, but the channel regained rights last year. The shows' creator, Roberto Bolaños, is also the subject of a biographical series currently airing on Max.
