Amateurs drive shorter distances than many think

A new report reveals the average amateur golfer drives the ball significantly shorter than often perceived, with men averaging 224.7 yards and women 176.2 yards in 2024. The Arccos Driving Distance Report, based on over a billion data points, shows these distances are slightly down from 2023. The data highlights a discrepancy between recreational players' perceived driving distances and actual performance. This data contrasts with the increasing driving distances of professional golfers, such as Aldrich Potgieter, who leads the PGA Tour with an average drive of 324 yards.
