Alpine appoints Oliver Oakes as youngest team principal in F1 history
Oliver Oakes has been appointed as Alpine's new team principal, making him the second-youngest in Formula One history at 36. He replaces Bruno Famin, who stepped down in July. Oakes previously owned Hitech Grand Prix and was a karting world champion. Oakes began his racing career at age four and won the CIK World Championship in 2005. After a brief stint in single-seater racing, he transitioned to coaching and then founded Hitech in 2015, expanding it to compete in various junior racing series. His arrival at Alpine comes amid significant changes, as the team has struggled in the standings and will shift to a customer engine supply by 2026. Oakes aims to leverage his experience to revitalize the team and build on its rich history.
