Alphonse Marotta, dedicated public servant and family man, dies at 90

Alphonse “Al” Salvatore Marotta, a dedicated public servant and beloved family man, passed away on December 17, 2024, at the age of 90. He was known for his commitment to Hartford and his Italian heritage. Born in Hartford, Al worked various jobs while earning an engineering degree. He served 35 years with the Connecticut Department of Transportation and held multiple elected positions, including Deputy Mayor and State Representative. Al is survived by his wife, Lucia, two sons, and five grandchildren. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on December 21, 2024, in Wethersfield.
