Alibaba Cloud builds AI data centers in Southeast Asia

scmp.com

Alibaba Cloud is expanding its AI infrastructure in Southeast Asia with new data centers in Malaysia and the Philippines to meet growing regional demand. The company launched its third data center in Malaysia and plans to open a second one in the Philippines in October. These investments follow similar expansions in Thailand, Mexico, and South Korea, fueled by a US$53 billion AI infrastructure investment. This expansion is part of Alibaba's broader strategy in Southeast Asia, a key market for Chinese tech firms, and comes after closing data centers in other regions last year.
