Akasa Air grounds hundreds of pilots due to aircraft delivery delays

Akasa Air is facing a surplus of pilots due to delays in aircraft deliveries. The airline received only three new planes in 2024, causing training timelines for pilots to extend from 12 to potentially 24 months. Currently, about 400 of Akasa's 850 pilots have not yet started flying. The airline's growth plans have been disrupted, with a projected fleet of 42 aircraft reduced to just 15 by the end of the financial year 2025. Pilots are expressing concerns over salary reductions and delays in flying opportunities. Akasa Air is reportedly raising funds to support its operations amid these challenges.
