AI’s $4.7 trillion opportunity: What it means for Indian firms and investors
Artificial intelligence could put $4.7 trillion of global corporate profits at stake between 2025 and 2035, according to a Bain & Company analysis, potentially reshaping industries and investor valuations worldwide. The report estimates AI could structurally transform 71% of sectors, including healthcare, pharma, manufacturing and financial services, with innovation representing the largest opportunity at $2.2 trillion. Productivity gains account for only $1.1 trillion, or about 24% of the total shift. For Indian companies, the impact extends beyond IT services, which face disruption from AI replacing human-delivery models. Bain warns that early adopters can build compounding learning advantages, urging investors to focus on firms capable of defending margins and creating new profit pools rather than seeking a single "AI stock."
