Air New Zealand suspends Auckland-Seoul flights due to Boeing 787 engine shortages

Air New Zealand will suspend its seasonal flights from Auckland to Seoul due to ongoing engine shortages affecting its Boeing 787-9 fleet. The airline will not resume the route in October 2025 as previously planned. The airline has faced issues with Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines, leading to reduced aircraft availability. Customers can still travel to Seoul with stopovers in other Asian cities, or they can opt for a full refund or credit. This suspension follows the earlier cancellation of nonstop flights to Chicago. Air New Zealand plans to replace its Trent 1000 engines with GE GEnx-1B engines in future aircraft deliveries.
