Air New Zealand abandons 2030 carbon emissions reduction targets

Air New Zealand has abandoned its 2030 carbon emissions reduction targets, citing delays in new aircraft production, a shortage of alternative fuels, and challenging regulatory conditions. Initially, the airline aimed for a 28.9% reduction from 2019 levels. It remains committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2050 and plans to set new near-term targets reflecting current challenges. Air travel accounts for 2.5% of global carbon emissions.
