Aid convoy reaches besieged Jebel Awliya in Sudan for first time since civil war began

For the first time since the Sudan civil war began in 2023, an aid convoy reached the Jebel Awliya area, south of Khartoum. Local volunteers reported that 28 trucks delivered food and medical supplies this week. The convoy included 22 trucks from the World Food Programme, one from Doctors Without Borders, and five from UNICEF. The supplies aim to address urgent health and nutrition needs for about 200,000 children and families. Access to many areas in Sudan has been restricted due to the conflict between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces. Since April 2023, aid has required approval from both warring parties.
